Heritage I — Tecumseh Inspired Pipe Tomahawk

The starting piece of the Paps Tomahawks Heritage Line — a collection of handcrafted pieces inspired by historically significant tomahawks and the stories surrounding them.

This tomahawk takes its inspiration from the famous Tecumseh pipe tomahawk, one of the most recognizable historical pieces associated with Native American leadership and the era of the early 19th century. This is not an exact reproduction or copy. Instead, it is my own interpretation of that historic form, reimagined through the Paps Tomahawks approach to forging, materials and craftsmanship.

The head is hand-forged from 1055 carbon steel and given a carefully developed vintage finish. It is mounted on a hickory handle, decorated with distinctive rasp-burned marks that add texture and emphasize its handcrafted character.

The pipe is completed with a top plug made from American walnut, adding a subtle contrast to the darker hickory and aged steel.

As the first piece in the Heritage Line, this tomahawk represents the idea behind the entire series: taking inspiration from historical weapons, studying their character and proportions, and creating something new rather than simply reproducing the past.
