Stone Age Striped Flint Spike Tomahawk
Long before steel found its place in the hands of warriors, stone was the material that shaped civilization. This one-of-a-kind Stone Age Spike Tomahawk is my artistic interpretation of what an ancient fighting tool might have looked like if crafted from one of Poland’s most extraordinary natural treasures—striped flint.
Mined exclusively in Poland, striped flint is renowned worldwide for its mesmerizing natural bands and is traditionally used in fine jewelry. For this project, however, I chose to let the stone tell a different story. Carefully shaped and polished to a mirror finish, the head reveals flowing layers that strikingly resemble the pattern of Damascus steel, despite being formed entirely by nature over millions of years.
Unlike a traditional stone axe, this design incorporates a sculpted rear spike, giving the tomahawk a more aggressive silhouette while remaining faithful to the beauty of the natural material. It is a blend of prehistoric inspiration and modern artistic craftsmanship rather than a historical reproduction.
The head is mounted on a hand-selected curly maple handle, whose rich flame figure perfectly complements the flowing patterns of the polished flint. Every component has been carefully fitted by hand, resulting in a truly unique collector’s piece that cannot be duplicated.
Because polished flint is a beautiful yet naturally brittle material, this tomahawk is created exclusively as a presentation and display piece. It is not intended for chopping, throwing, or any practical use.
Designed for collectors of primitive weapons, historical art, and exceptional natural materials, this Stone Age Spike Tomahawk celebrates both the origins of edged tools and the timeless beauty hidden within the earth.
